We often find inspiration and moments of creative insight seemingly at random so what if we could record these moments and over time, get a clearer view of where our unique experiences and insights take place in urban environments? The En Masse project – a name which describes the role of connected people in the flow of information – serves to help us better understand urban space based on the experiences, and transformations of everyday people.
This section was designed as a frictionless run-down of the experiences that have shaped the location relative to the user, like placing one’s finger on the pulse of the city wherever the user is. By default, a cascading view of Sparks presents these in a truncated format whereby the user can tap any one for more detail and up-vote which affects Spark ranking.
Every part of a city has a story to tell. Users can generate appropriately named ‘Story’ card – concise overviews of a select area, detailing location popularity and the most up-voted (liked) Spark in that area. These can simply be ‘collected’ to the user’s profile for reference later, or even to
see a change over a period of time.

Serving as a central hub for the user’s collected information, the Profile section is where the users own Sparks are accessible, Stories they have collected and Sparks they have favourited. Each profile is unique, featuring a background design and colour scheme which is derived from the last Spark image the user has shared within the application.
